Asia equity markets are expected to open mixed ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday in the US, with cash stocks closed throughout today’s session and light macro data on the radar. Yesterday’s session saw a late bid helping indices close primarily in the green, although Dow Jones closed flat. Liquidity died down after the FOMC minutes as we entered the holiday period.
Asian markets will be digesting the latest Fed minutes, which gave the impression a December adjustment of bond purchases is increasingly likely, especially when paired with recent Fed members hawkish commentary. On the Energy front, Oil price action was choppy but settled slightly lower ahead of the OPEC meeting next week. China is still on the radar as the Chinese Foreign Ministry said China would release oil reserves according to its needs. China is in close communication with oil-producing and consuming nations. For the session ahead, the focus should fall on the ECB Minutes as general liquidity is thin.
