Life has these little gems, having two such “charismatic” characters at the helm of the US and UK Governments, something that a decade ago would be a joke on any entertainment program. But the truth is that Trump and Boris Johnson have reached where almost no one would imagine they would reach, now it remains to be seen whether they will be able to achieve what almost nobody expects them to achieve, the resolution of the trade war in the US president’s case and to solve the ” impossible” problem created by the Brexit referendum, in the case of Boris Johnson.

Both have been spreading their optimism about a successful endeavour. Trump said yesterday that there is likely to be an understanding between the US and China in November, while the UK Prime Minister has not yet given up on getting a deal in place until the end of this month, despite successive defeats, the latest of which this Monday. Incidentally, Johnson’s interaction with his Westminster comrades seems like the fable of the cat and the mouse, with Boris trying his best to achieve his intentions, while the majority in the Parliament reacts quickly to make them unfeasible.
We will see which one first achieves its objective, or better yet anyone will be able to deliver on their promises, because so far and despite the great noise created by these two soap operas, the impasse remains, without even the prospect of an end.
